Tarif des droits d'aydes et autres y réunis : [Boulougne, France], 1785.

Manuscript, in unidentified hand, detailing the various royal taxes called droit d'aydes (or droit d'aides), a widely imposed tax owed the French sovereign. In the last two centuries of the French monarchy the term was exclusively used for taxes on drinks and, to a lesser degree, on other commodities such as fur, gold and silver. Submitted to these taxes were Paris, Soissons, Amiens, Châlons, Orléans, Bourges, Moulins, Lyon, Poitiers, La Rochelle, Rouen, Caen, Alençon, Angouleme, Bourganeuf, Mâcon, Bar-sur-Seine, and Auxerre; all of which are dealt with in this manuscript. The entire volume is written within a handdrawn border and is simply decorated throughout in red and black ink.
